Patta x Asics Gel Saga II

Patta have built their reputation not only by a long standing love for sneakers and the culture but also in collaborations with absolutely sublime results and consistency which is arguably unrivalled by any other company. Its hard to find fault with any of their previous footwear efforts. With Asics steam rollering 2010/11 with their almightly Gel Lyte III it seems with a little help from RF and the Patta Boys the Gel Saga II will have its own days in the sunshine. These are very much a sequel to their original 2007 Gel Lytes with an almost identical palette but a multi tonal black upper this time sees minimal usage of the green/red highlights and allows the silhouette to be the star. This is very much a sign of the times but I though simple I can't help looking at the textures and accents and thinking they have nailed it again...

Hanon x Asics Gel Lyte III 'Wildcats'

The Gel Lyte III has been a consistent feature on the trainerspotting blog in 2011 and for good reason, with a plethora of collaborations it has only sought to amplify this shoes impression on sneaker culture. Hanon are no strangers to Asics collaborations and this is in my opinion there most polished effort to date. Inspired by the local 'Wildcats' running club of Hanons home town of Aberdeen the two tone colorway is brilliant. With perforated nubuck toebox which was the preferred style of recent Ronnie Fieg collabs, 3M tiger stripes a trio of laces and a cotton dust bag this looks to be a highlight of the year end, available instore and online on 28th Oct....

Ronnie Fieg x Asics 'Salmon Toe'

Out of all the Ronnie Fieg x Asics collaborations over the last few years none have been more coveted by myself than the 'Salmon Toes'. Having been a sample pair that were given away via his blog it is a colorway that blew my mind. I had all but resided myself to the chance of ever owning these until this week. Atmos x Asics Gel Lyte III

The Asics Gel Lyte III continues to dominate this year with Atmos Japan dropping another highly loveable colorway. What I always seem to forget is that this shoe is actually one of the most technologically forward shoes in running. The split tongue was designed specifically to reduce unnecessary strain on the top of the foot during long distances and with a triple-density compression moulded midsole for excellent rear foot shock absorption these are as much at home during a marathon as they are walking to the shop. And with an original Batmanesc black and gold upper and one of my favourite design features the splatter effect midsole these are definitely a rival for RF's releases this year...

Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel-Lyte III “Mint” Preview
